THPatch Dress^
Oh boy this dress had its highs and lows… it was a serious trust process. I really wanted to explore the couching yarn technique to create a full dress from a continuous assembly meaning it wasn’t a pattern but a make as you go dress. The hardest part was getting the model’s measurements absolutely correct with the ease of the yarn while using a body form that was too big. Not an ideal situation for yarn that has minimal ease. Even with my adjustable form, the measurements were a gamble. In hindsight this process was pretty rough. After hrs and hrs of sewing the pieces, I had to assemble directly to a form to get the shape. Given the construction parameters I had to work with it turned out pretty good. I wish I had had a better sized form but sometimes we have to make do with what we have. I plan to revisit this technique and try this design again.
Shout out to @caitsnyd_sews for the design critique I needed. The dress had a much better chance as the pieces were installed on the bias giving it more stretch.
