HOIKEA PAX hack 🙌🏽
The B U I L D stage
Steps:
1. Using timber (we used 3x2) build a frame for the IKEA units to sit on.
2. Build IKEA units 🔨 (we used a 100cm and 50cm wide wardrobe frame with the FORSAND door)
3. Confirm and double check position of everything 👍🏽
4. Secure timber framing to the floor (we have wooden floors so used standard screws)
5. Secure IKEA units to the wall and build framework above to secure to ceiling joists. To create the ‘pocket door’ we one of the units off the wall and secured above and below. This allowed space behind for the door to slide into.
6. Build timber frame around the outside and use 18mm plywood to create new built in framework
7. Cut plywood to size to fix around the doors of the IKEA unit. We countersinked the screws so we could create a seamless look.
8. Using filler and sanding off, tidy off any edges and screws 👏🏼
