SI✨ The Foolproof Homemade Pita Recipe You’ll Ever Need!
Soft, fluffy, and perfectly puffed every single time and no oven required! Once you try this recipe, you’ll never want store-bought pita again.
Makes 24 pita pockets🫓
Here’s what you’ll need:
🥣 Flour: 1 kilo (7 cups / 1000 g)
🍞 Dry active yeast: 2 heaping tbsp (24 g)
🧂 Salt: 1 tbsp (12 g)
🍬 Sugar: ½ cup (110 g)
🫒 Oil: ½ cup (120 ml)
💧 Warm water: 2½ cups (590 ml)
How to make it:
1️⃣ In a mixer (or by hand), combine everything except the water.
2️⃣ Slowly add water as you knead. Knead 12 min in a mixer or 18 min by hand.
3️⃣ Cover and let rise 1½–2 hours, until doubled.
4️⃣ Divide into 75 g balls, roll, and let rest 25 min covered on a floured surface.
5️⃣ On a floured surface, roll each ball into a flat circle. Let rest another 20 min.
6️⃣ Cook on a hot pan or griddle over medium-high heat, flipping every 10 seconds until puffed and golden (about 5 min total).
So soft, so fluffy, and absolutely delicious.
