Pixels tells the story of Earth being attacked by aliens who misinterpret old 1980s arcade game footage as a declaration of war. After receiving the signals decades earlier, the aliens recreate the games in real life and launch an invasion using giant pixelated versions of classic characters like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Space Invaders.
With cities being destroyed by these retro video game enemies, the government turns to an unlikely group of heroes — former arcade champions who were once the best players in the world. Led by Sam Brenner, they must use their gaming skills to defeat the alien recreations before the entire planet is taken over.
As the battles escalate, the team travels across the world facing increasingly difficult levels, just like a giant real-life video game.
The film blends nostalgia, comedy, and sci-fi action, celebrating classic arcade culture while imagining what would happen if those games suddenly came to life.
