🔥 Why Being a Polymath Gives You the Edge 🧠✨ The most successful people aren’t just masters of one skill… they’re polymaths. When you develop abilities that use both your left (logic) and right (creativity) brain, you not only strengthen your mind but also stand out in your main career. Yes, you need to choose a lane and go deep. But if you only stay in that lane, you risk missing blind spots. Developing hobbies and different skills in other areas makes you sharper, more creative, and more adaptable 🚀. So here’s the question: Are you developing yourself to become a polymath, or are you staying in just one lane? 🤔 #MondayMotivation #Polymath #LifelongLearning #PeakPerformance

Your brain isn’t done being a teenager until you’re 32. Science just said so. Cambridge researchers mapped brain development across 4,000 people from newborns to 90-year-olds and found that your brain’s adolescent phase doesn’t end until your early thirties. Before that? Your brain is in its longest developmental phase refining, pruning, strengthening connections, trying to make all the regions work together efficiently. And then at 32, things shift. Intelligence and personality development level off. You become more you, for better or worse. So if you’re in your twenties feeling like you should have it all figured out? Your brain is literally still in its adolescent phase. You’ve got time. Full breakdown in the video including why certain conditions emerge at specific ages and what happens at 66 and 83. Comment “Brain” and I will DM you the episode directly Dr. Muotri’s research on brain organoids and neurodevelopment is extraordinary, but what struck me most was how personal this work is for him. Dr. Alysson Muotri is a world-leading geneticist and pioneering neuroscientist whose research has reshaped how we understand the human brain. He is a Professor of Pediatrics and Cellular & Molecular Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, and Director of UCSD’s Stem Cell Program. With a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of São Paulo and a prestigious Pew Fellowship completed at the Salk Institute, Dr. Muotri has spent his career at the forefront of regenerative neuroscience and human brain evolution. In this episode, we get into why he’s trying to reconstruct the human brain in a lab, how brain organoids are transforming our ability to study and potentially reverse brain-based illnesses and neurodevelopmental differences, such as autism, epilepsy and Alzheimers, and the emerging field of biocomputing and “organoid intelligence.” 🎧You can watch the full episode of I’ve Got Questions on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts

A BRAIN AREA CONTROLLING WILLPOWER & HOW TO ACTIVATE/INCREASE IT• - A long-standing question is whether or not willpower is best accessed by facing challenges through a sense of grit, or moving towards things that we enjoy. On the episode of the Huberman Lab podcast out now I discuss the science of willpower, both from the experimental psychology and neuroscience literature. - I discuss a remarkable (and robust) set of findings showing that a brain area called the anterior mid-cingulate cortex (aMCC) seems to largely control our sense of willpower. What is especially exciting is that forcing oneself to do something when we are least motivated to do it leads to long-standing increases in the size of this structure and its connectivity with related circuits in the brain that control willpower. - I review the details and protocols surrounding those data in the episode, but suffice to say that if you enjoy an activity, it won’t increase your level of willpower, even if it’s challenging whereas, if something feels like a real strain, then it will increase your willpower for all things. Activation of this brain structure also may be related to brain longevity. - NOTE: Of course you want to avoid doing things that are psychologically or physically damaging(!) but if you’re interested in building up your willpower, you can’t just challenge yourself to do more of the same work/exercise etc; you have to push into the realm of true psychological strain aka against the “I don’t want to”. - For those interested in the science of willpower, and how to improve it, the protocols in the episode ought be of interest. - You can find the episode in all formats at hubermanlab.com. It is timestamped so that you can navigate easily to the topics most of interest to you. - Meanwhile, please put any questions you have in the comments section below this post, and as always, thank you for your interest in science! - @hubermanlab @stanford.med @stanford @nihgov @nimhgov @societyforneuroscience @cellpress - #neuroscience #science #neurosciencia #ciencia #brain #neuroplasticity #psychology #cingulatecortex #willpower #motivation #tenacity #exercise #grit
