A selection of wrist special tests I’ve been learning and practising during my MSc Physiotherapy training.

• Tinel’s
• Finkelstein’s (De Quervain’s)
• Watson’s (Scaphoid Shift)
• Allen’s Test
• Phalen’s

These tests are commonly used in clinical assessments to help build a picture of what might be contributing to wrist pain, nerve symptoms, instability, or vascular concerns.
Important to remember:
• No single test confirms a diagnosis
• They’re always interpreted alongside a thorough subjective history
• Movement assessment (AROM, PROM, resisted testing), palpation and clinical reasoning are key
Technique and hand placement can vary slightly depending on what structure you’re biasing and clinician preference.
