Before asking me: 🧠 Have you tried thinking? 👯 Ask a friend 🙋 Then ask me Sometimes kids will ask for help before they’ve even tried the question. But research shows students actually learn more when they struggle with a problem first and try to figure it out on their own. It’s called “productive struggle,” and it helps build stronger problem-solving skills and independence! We’re not ignoring kids who need help, we’re giving their brains a chance to work first. and no, I do not sit down while my kids are working / solving a problem. I’m clearly walking around the room, but there are times where I’m at my desk helping another student and a lign forms. A sign like this is super useful!
