THOh hey 👋🏾 to all my new followers! Allow me to take this moment to introduce myself.
I’m Dr. Nadia Lopez, founder and former principal, who open schools to close prisons. The host of @detentionpodcast, a @teacherprize global ambassador, the author of ‘The Bridge to Brilliance’ and a co-author of ‘Teaching in the Fourth Industrial Revolution’.
My impact in education became a viral on Humans of NY, which led to some memorable moments like meeting President Obama, receiving a @blackgirlrock award alongside Michelle Obama, and delivering a Ted talk on the education revolution.
I loved my scholars and the team that help me build MHBA💜, but after developing an auto-immune kidney disease caused by stress, I resigned from my position in 2020. I leveraged my skills and began coaching WOC in educational leadership, consulting with districts and Ed tech companies, and becoming a philanthropic social impact strategist.
I am a disruptor, using my social platforms to amplify issues and highlight untold stories in education because throughout my life I’ve had some of the dopest educators on earth, who were the epitome of what it means to lead and teach Black and Brown children. They were my example of what is possible, so I stand on their shoulders knowing that change starts with us, because everything else is just an excuse.

Last week our 3rd graders voted early because they are learning about the Constitution and how voting gives power to the people.
Our students worked the polls, tallied votes, and ensured our safety as folks voted. A special shoutout to Mrs. Canfield for leading this project with some of our enrichment students!
