AMDid you know that not all EVA Foam are the same?
EVA Foam comes in many sizes and knowing which sizes to use can affect the outcome of your project. Rule of thumb: Thicker = More structure. Thinner = More flexibility. 10mm to 5 are your bulky and stiffer foams, 3mm is your universal foam, and anything below that are your detail foams. It helps to observe how your prop interacts with the character. Is it visibly bulky? Does it have some give? Does it drown the character out or flow seamlessly with them?
I recommend investing in at least two sheets of 10, 5, and 3mm. The thinner you go, the tricker it is to handle but since it’s focused on finer detailing, a sheet or two will last much longer than the thicker ones. But remember, don’t use these foams alone. All the sizes are meant to be used in combination each other. Next, we’ll go over cores.
