Key Concept: Inertia is the resistance of an object to change its state of motion. . Example: A soccer ball sits still on the grass until someone kicks it. A passenger in a car moves forward when the brakes are applied suddenly. . . Newton’s Second Law (Law of Acceleration/Force) . Definition: The net force acting on an object is proportional to the mass of the object multiplied by its acceleration (F = ma). . Key Concept: A greater force causes greater acceleration, while more mass requires more force to achieve the same acceleration. .
