I’ll never forget the kids face when she said we were a rainbow family just like hers. I didn’t even know what a rainbow family was until that moment. This little girl beamed and my heart just melted. My own inner child was healed today. Being seen and being represented matters so deeply. I have zero regrets in wanting to marry the absolute love of my life and I can’t wait to spend a lifetime being a rainbow family ❤️🌈

“It’s just a phase.” “You’ll grow out of it.” “You just haven’t met the right man yet.” We heard it all. Growing up, I never saw a queer couple building a real life together. I didn’t see marriages like ours. I didn’t see softness, stability, longevity between two women. So the world called it a phase. But phases don’t last 13 years. Phases don’t survive family pressure, distance, growth, adulthood, bills, healing, and becoming. Phases don’t turn into wives. 13 years later we’re still here. She’s still my person. I’m still in love with her. And what we have is deeper than anything they tried to label. It was always love. For first time ever in our little blue dot city inside a very red state, someone stopped us just to say how refreshing it was to see a queer couple out and about. 🥹 Most days when we’re out, we’re the only queer couple or family we see. And as a visibly queer family, simply existing in public feels like more than “showing up.” It’s proof that love like ours is real, resilient, and worthy of taking up space. What matters most to us is being that 🏳️‍🌈 representation we so badly needed when we were younger. A living reminder that you can grow up, fall in love with who you love, build the family you dream of, and live openly as a queer person, even when it’s hard.
