First, I met my editor @maeday_reads and my publicist @alana.torres at Dell, who've published three of my adult romance novels. I also signed about 300 bookplates for Love Beyond Reasonable Doubt's preorder campaigns and felt more hope for my career than I have in a long time. The next day, I returned to the PRH office to meet @_aliromig, my YA romance editor at Delacorte. I got to write on the Random House Children's Books author wall and sign a few bookplates for As Long as You Loathe Me's preorder campaign. Firstly. My book is going to be in Waterstones??? Mind blowing! 🤯 I’ve had two insanely talented and world renowned figures in the literary world, Felicity Blunt and Harriet Bourton, hold my hand for this process. I still cannot believe the fact that these two titans of industry want anything to do with me - it is pretty incredible. I would not be anywhere without these two. And they’re really cool, kind women too. I feel like I’m far too lowly to have a seat at their table but they’ve only been encouraging. The publishing process is daunting. This version of Tangled Webs is different to our self published, first copy. Felicity and Harriet have gently helped me polish and mould the original copy into something I am really, deeply proud of - and so excited for everyone to read. For so long it's just… you… and a screen. Notes ev — I don’t think I’ll ever forget this night… There’s something so strange about celebrating a book. For so long it’s just… you… and a screen. Notes everywhere. Second-guessing paragraphs. Deleting entire sections. Putting it away. Coming back. Googling, “what to do when you hate your book?” (It’s true.) Wondering if it’s clear. Wondering if it’ll have an impact. And then one night, you’re standing in a gorgeous room at The Ned NoMad in New York (@thenednomad ), and people are holding it. Talking about it. Telling you which chapter felt personal. That transition is hard to explain. What moved me most wasn’t the fact that the book was published. Or that there was a launch event. It was the people who came, and the conversations. The open ones. The honest ones. The “I didn’t know how much I needed this” ones. Writing can feel lonely. But nights like this one remind me it’s anything but. Thank you to everyone who showed up during launch over week a month ago and filled that space with warmth. And to everyone, everywhere, who has welcomed Big Trust into their life. That trust means more than I can say. Grateful to the very talented Mike Uko @mikeukoshoots for capturing the night (how good is this edit?!t), and to Meggie Palmer @meggiepalmer and PepTalkHer @peptalkher for planting the seed for this gathering and helping bring it to life.
