I used 1x3 poplar boards from Weaber Lumber for the stiles (vertical trim pieces) and rails (horizontal trim pieces), and 1/4” plywood for the middle panel of these shaker style cabinet doors This was definitely a time consuming project, BUT I’m saving THOUSANDS by DIY’ing it instead of ordering pre-made. All that’s left is primer + paint (and new hardware!) and this first step of my kitchen makeover will be complete! Have you ever seen a good looking refrigerator side? 🤔 Just like all other kitchen appliances, the best angle is from the front and the sides are not meant to be seen. One of the things that I think makes a kitchen look cheap is when you have a narrow 12” deep cabinet mounted above a refrigerator and it’s not practical either because you cannot easily reach anything that goes inside of it. To fix this, we pulled the cabinet forward and added large panels to hide the sides of the refrigerator. The result makes it look built-in and custom. However to take it a step further, we also extended the soffit and added molding above it to create the illusion that the cabinets extended all the way to the ceiling.  These are little things that take a basic builder-grade kitchen and elevate it tinto something that feels custom and expensive but it can be achieved for a minimal cost! . . . #kitchen #interiordesign #beforeandafter #homedesign #kitchendesign #kitchenremodel #refrigerador #bultin #appliances #diy
