For years, Rogers and his team worked in Polaroid’s lab, experimenting with thousands of dyes and chemicals. Their goal was to create a film that could develop color pictures in minutes instead of hours. It wasn’t easy—each test required patience, precision, and creative problem-solving. The key breakthrough came when Rogers developed a “dye developer”, a special chemical that could form colors instantly during development. This invention became the heart of Polaroid’s first color instant film, known as Polacolor, released in 1963. That picture of Rogers and his 5,000 bottles marks a turning point in photography. Their years of careful research transformed picture-taking from a slow, complex process into something fast, colorful, and available to everyone. #history #facts
