This is my 4-year-old’s RESP. I’ve contributed $2,500 a year since he was born, captured the government grant, and let the money stay invested. The long-term goal is to grow this to $125,000 by the time he’s ready for post-secondary — by starting early and staying consistent. This is why understanding how RESPs actually work matters for Canadian families 🇨🇦 I’ll be sharing more about how RESPs work and how to make the most of them!

Just education do what works best for your situation as always. Could just slowly buy bonds yourself and stay in all equity as well. Or bucket approach etc. You spent 18 years building your kid’s RESP. $45K in contributions. $7,200 in free government grants. $63K in growth. Then the market crashes 40% when they’re 17. University starts in September whether the market recovered or not. You HAVE to sell. Those losses are permanent. Here’s the fix: de-risk as you approach the deadline. Ages 0-10 → 100% equity (ZEQT) Ages 10-13 → 80/20 (ZGRO) Ages 13-16 → 60/40 (ZBAL) Ages 16-18 → GIC / zmmk/ cash etc these keep changing what’s best and will over time with interest rates Save this. Send it to a parent who needs it. #RESP #CanadianFinance #CESG #InvestingCanada #FinancialPlanning

Are RESPs worth it? And what about if you set one up for your child and he/she doesn’t end up going to post-secondary? In general, I love RESPs. They are great to save for your kids’ education especially because you earn Canada Education Savings Grant (CESG) money from the government on your contributions. Plus, even if your kid never uses it, you’ve got options. You can withdraw your contributions tax-free then transfer any growth/income into your RRSP (and return the CESG money). Or withdraw it to a taxable account and pay tax on it plus a 20% penalty. But if an RESP isn’t for you, you can also look into setting up a trust or in-trust account. #RESP #RESPsavings #registerededucationsavingsplan #buildingwealth #financialfreedom #financialliteracy #financialeducation #personalfinance #moneytips

The smartest RESP strategy gives you flexibility, protection, and peace of mind. But most people don’t even know it exists. Scholarship plans? They’re full of restrictions. High fees, strict schedules, and limits on which schools your child can attend. If you want more control, a family RESP lets you pool funds for multiple kids, adjust contributions, and invest on your own terms. And the best part? You can avoid thousands in taxes just by timing your withdrawals right, and making a few smart choices today. I walk through the entire RESP strategy on YouTube video. 🎥 Watch now: DO THIS to Maximize Your RESP and Avoid Costly Tax Traps 🔗 Link in bio #withdrawal #resp #education #market #finance #financialadvisor #financialeducation #financialmanagement #investments #investing #investingadvice #investmenttips #investmentplanning #market #marketvolatility #mississauga #personalfinance #toronto #vlog

More details 👇🏼 Most parents open an RESP, contribute regularly, and assume they’re doing the right thing. But here’s what they don’t realize… 💡 The difference between a 4% return and a 7% return over 18 years is massive. We’re talking tens of thousands of dollars in missed growth — all for the same contribution! I just ran the numbers in this video to show how a well-managed RESP can make a real difference in your child’s education fund. ✅ Same contribution ✅ Same government grant 🚨 Completely different outcome If you’re not sure what your RESP is earning right now — or who’s managing it — it might be time to take a second look. 👀 Ask yourself: ➤ Is my advisor helping me grow this efficiently? ➤ Do I know how much I’ve earned? ➤ Am I settling for less than I could? 📩 Comment “REVIEW” and I’ll take a quick look for you — no pressure, no pitch. Just clarity. These are the small details I take care of when working with families — so your child gets the most, not the government. #parenting #parents #canada🇨🇦

🤔 Why should you(or your kids) set up an RESP (Registered Education Savings Plan) even if you don’t plan on contributing? 🇨🇦 The federal government offers grants for low-income Canadians(defined as under $57,375 per year) for having an RESP. There is a $500 learning bond for opening the RESP, and an additional $100 each year the plan is open (until they turn 15). This could mean up to $2,000 per child in free money. 😃 In BC, all children are eligible for a $1,200 training grant. The catch is that you have to apply (it doesn’t come automatically) between the day they turn 6 and the day before they turn 9. 👵 Grandparents love contributing to RESPs. There is often a sense of wanting to help their grandkids, but they are unsure of how to do so. Let them know you have one set up and that any help would be greatly appreciated. 🎂 Money from birthdays, Christmas, chores, part-time work or returning bottles can all be put into the RESP and receive the standard 20% grant from the government. I advocate not letting a child spend all the money they receive and forcing them to save some of it. #RESP #Education #grandkids #grandchild #university

Ok, let’s be real… #AD I had NO idea what the CDIC was before I started this campaign with them. I’m here to educate because I legitimately learned something new and want to share it with you. So let’s break it down: -The Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) protects deposits in member institutions (members are different financial institutions… there are A LOT that are a part of CDIC and you can look up to see if yours is a member on their site. You literally just enter the name in a search bar). -I know it sounds like a failure of a financial institution would be unlikely but I was shocked to learn that the CDIC protected deposits when there was a member failure 43 (yes… 43) times since its establishment in 1967. -there is no additional cost for this. If your financial institution is a member, you are covered (obviously there are rules around how much is covered etc and you can check all that out on their site). -I also learned that RESP and RDSP deposits are also part of this coverage (omg could you imagine NOT having coverage for savings you put together for your kids?!?!) Visit www.cdic.ca to check if your financial institution is a member and how much of your deposit is insured… especially when it comes to RESP and RDSP deposits!. Knowledge is power, friends. Learn more by checking out the site. @cdicsadc #RESP #RDSP
