THOver the past few months, our land management team has been hard at work roguing trees on the Duncan farm at Meadowview Research Farms. This essential process not only keeps the orchard looking its best but also creates valuable space for new plantings. With limited room to grow, we rely on advanced recurrent genomic selection (RGS) technology and detailed orchard records to identify trees that are most promising for breeding and seed collection. Those that haven’t demonstrated improved blight tolerance or high seed productivity are carefully removed, including grinding the stumps to prevent resprouts, ensuring a healthier and more productive landscape.
