ALWant to avoid harsh lines when touching up roots?
After applying color to the regrowth, gently comb through with a wide-tooth comb. A light touch prevents the color from spreading too far onto previously colored or lightened hair, so the regrowth looks precise—not overstretched.

Read below for @iamkendraalia's explanation why & some tips:
"Touchup for single process color should be done in about 8 weeks give or take. It really depends on how fast your clients hair grow. But the longer a client waits, the harder is going to be to avoid banding. Color bands are common, but easy to avoid. Remember the longer the distance from the scalp, will result in a different way the color processes.
Another tip when doing a single process color, is to adjust the lower of your developer. I usually like to mix a 10 volume and 20 volume developer by @kenraprofessional with my formula when I’m doing root touchups. This gives me the strength to lift, but the control not to create a hot root!"
