3 workouts to get sharp, run FAST 800m times after XC season... 1️⃣ Aerobic Speed Endurance 2 sets of (800m, 500m, 400m) — 2min rest between reps, 3min between sets. I ran them in 2:22–2:24, 80–85s, and 62–61s. Then 8x300m (90s rest) @ aerobic effort — aim to get faster each rep (I went 51 → 46s). 2️⃣ Race Specific Endurance 2 sets of (800m, 600m, 400m) — 2min rest between reps, 3min between sets. I ran 2:16–2:19, 1:40–1:42, and 62–65s. Then 10x300m (90s rest) @ aerobic effort — settle into a strong rhythm, I ran 50–48s. 3️⃣ Speed Endurance / VO₂max Combo 1k (3:12) → 3min rest → 2x(5x400m). First set: 67–71s (1min rest) Second set: 69–65s (90s rest) This one’s brutal — teaches you to stay strong when the legs start burning 🔥

I have one major regret in my athletic life: I just wish I understood the power of high-carb fueling 15 years ago. They say that everything happens for a reason, and I understand that thinking. I’m so thankful for the broken road to get to this point. Also, I know that’s what we are supposed to say 😂 But also, screw that. I can’t help but look back and wonder what could have been. My mission is to make sure no other athlete has to feel that way. Yet another study came out today showing 2.6% running economy improvement at 120 grams of carbs per hour relative to 60 grams per hour. In other words, even if we just look at single-day performance in shorter events, high-carb can be as valuable as a pair of supershoes. That’s not the whole story, though. Anyone who has committed to high carb on higher quality training days can tell you the biggest benefit—recovery and adaptation rates skyrocket. It might be 2.6% on the day, but it compounds over time to something more like exponential growth. I’m running lower on time to harness that compound growth, in the big scheme of world class athletic performance. I plan to make the most of it. I’ll always talk about why high carb approaches work, and for a while at least, I aim to prove it. And if anyone out there reading this post has skeptical voices (from the outside or in your own head) telling you anything other than high carb, look to the real world and see the revolution happening simultaneously in all of endurance sports. Carbs change everything. The best time to start high carb was when you started doing longer or tougher training sessions. The next best time is now 🧡 🎥 @codybare_ 🙏
