You love to see an amazing turnout for rallies, but what we NEED to see is follow-up action that forces Dougie’s government to re-evaluate this decision As explained by @jphornick_opseusefpo and @kristynwongtam there are several ways you can do this, with each one boiling down to: be UNRELENTINGLY annoying in raising your voice and pushing back against these absurd cuts I will be at the town hall next week, and I encourage you to do the same! If anyone in the King-Vaughan riding feels so inclined to join me, I’ll be paying my MPP a visit soon :) bigger numbers are harder to ignore, so find some friends and family who are willing to join you, and speak to your MPP! #saveosap

Post secondary education is under attack by the Ford conservative government. Doug Ford is lifting the tuition freeze and gutting OSAP grants — slashing grant funding from up to 85% down to just 25% and forcing the rest into loans and higher student debt. That means not only will students pay more to go to college or university, they’ll graduate tens of thousands of dollars more in debt. And with the rising cost of housing, transit and food, on top of facing more student debt, fewer students will have the opportunity to go to college or university to train for a career. That’s Doug Ford’s debt sentence for students and parents. But we can fight these cuts together. Go to SaveOSAP.ca, add your name and join us in calling on Doug Ford to reverse these cuts. STOP. 🛑 If you’re a student in Ontario thinking of dropping out because of the new 75% loan split, read this: 1️⃣ Student Access Guarantee: By LAW, if OSAP doesn’t cover your tuition & books, your school MUST provide a bursary to cover the gap. Demand it from Financial Aid. 2️⃣ Emergency Funds: Schools have “non-repayable” crisis grants for housing & food. Don’t go to the streets—go to your Registrar and ask for an “In-Course Bursary.” 3️⃣ Walkouts: Rallies are happening across Ontario right now (Queen’s Park, Ottawa, Waterloo). You aren’t alone in this fight. The system is failing us, but the streets are a trap. Keep your head in the books and your boots on the ground. 📚✊ 💡 Why this is critical right now (March 2026): • The Funding Flip: The province just officially capped grants at 25%, meaning 75% of your funding is now a loan. It’s a massive debt increase, but the Student Access Guarantee is still a legal requirement for colleges and universities to help low-income students. • The Protest Movement: Thousands of students just marched on Queen’s Park (March 4th) and more walkouts are planned.
