KA“If I catch you studying anatomy, you’re out of my class,” said Dr. Ida Rolf to a young Sharon Wheeler. She saw so much potential in Sharon that she didn’t want anatomy to interfere with her natural ability to see and feel the body. Sharon was exceptional—so exceptional that Dr. Rolf admitted her to a class reserved only for men at the time, believing physical strength was essential for Structural Integration. Sharon wasn’t strong—but she could see, sense, and achieve what others simply could not.
Of course, Sharon studied anatomy anyway. And it was her remarkable perception and intuition that led her to develop innovative ways of working with tissues and bones—methods that challenged what was thought possible and anticipated scientific discoveries decades ahead of time.
I feel truly fortunate to have met, studied with, and assisted this extraordinary woman - and can’t wait for the next chance.
Here you can see Sharon teaching her ScarWork and BoneWork methods during one of her (and her team’s) many volunteer trips to Ukraine 💛💙
