The figure-eight (∞) design creates two connected “wings” that constantly push air in different directions. Instead of moving straight, the airflow makes the paper roll and curve, which keeps it turning in a smooth, repeating loop. Small folds along the paper act like control surfaces, similar to flaps on an airplane, stabilizing the motion so it doesn’t tumble or crash. Gravity pulls it downward, while lift from the moving air keeps it in motion, creating the illusion of an endless flight.
