LIThe Constitution doesn’t change based on opinions or politics.
Rights either apply to everyone, or they don’t.
Consistency matters.
If the Second Amendment is a right, it shouldn’t depend on who you are or what side you’re on.
You can’t call it a right in one situation and condemn it in another.
This isn’t about choosing sides or defending one person over another.
It’s about treating the same right the same way — every time.

SMLess than three weeks ago, Michael did a deep dive into the various use-of-force guidelines surrounding the shooting of Renee Nicole Good, who was killed by an ICE officer when she may or may not have hit him with her car. Though the details were fuzzy, it appeared that the officer’s actions may have been defensible with generous analysis.
The death of ICU nurse Alex Pretti, Michael says, seems a little harder to justify. Though Pretti was armed with a small handgun—as is his second amendment right—the video of several officers pepper spraying him, knocking and pinning him to the ground, disarming him, and then shooting and killing him make it more difficult to say that any officer in the situation had a credible fear for their life.
Armed with a couple of days of hindsight and a true centrist’s perspective, Michael reviews all the available evidence and explains what more he wants to see before he can make a final judgement.
