That said, as fans of proper wild camping, quieter vibes, and super dog-friendly stays, it was a little busier than what we’re used to. However, we can definitely see the appeal, especially for groups and families! 👌🏼 We’d be really keen to return with our group of campers, where we can be up to 10-12 adults.👏🏼 Have you visited Shell Island? No partial views. No parking lot balconies. 🐚 Beach experience: The north end connects to a wide stretch of sand often referred to as “Shell Island.” It’s great for long walks and peaceful views. (Not the most famous shelling beach in North Carolina — but you’ll definitely find some.) 💡 When to book: Rates are typically lower in the shoulder seasons (late fall and early spring).
