Did you know each piece of shell jewelry we create takes a minimum of 4 days to create? It begins with collecting the shells right from our local beaches. We practice ethical shelling meaning we never take live shells and careful not to over shell. Day 1 begins a cleaning process where shells are washed to remove sand and debris. Followed by a soak in a bleach and water solution for at least 24 hours. Day 2 is a crucial step. The shells must dry thoroughly for a minimum of 24 hours. Day 3 the shells receive a coating of mineral oil to enhance their colors and unique patterns. I prefer the buffing application. They must dry for another 24 hours. Day 4 we can finally work on the wire wrapping. Once that is done they do need to cure for added strength. And of course, Avi, the Quality Control Inspector 🐾 is always on duty I hope you enjoy your handmade seashell jewelry and appreciate all the love and hardwork poured into it. DIY Diaries Part 2: Shell Jewelry Holder 🐚✨⭐️ I made this as a gift for someone who always forgets where they last set their jewelry and loves the ocean. Mermaids, sirens, ocean lovers, jewelry lovers, those who grew up watching pixie hollow and wanted to be a water talent fairy like silver mist or loved Aquamarine or H20 ….this is for you! This was super easy to put together! I used shells and worn sea glass that came from the potpourri jar in the video that have probably been sitting in my house since 2009. Other materials I used were hot glue and a hot glue 🔫, stick on pearls, flowers and stars. I think this turned out very whimsical, siren aesthetic, mermaid core, fairy core… beachy 🐚✨⭐️ If you do decide to do this please don’t take shells from the beach they may have animals in them (specifically closed ones or conical shells—they can or are homes to clams, crabs, or other sea creatures.) there are craft stores and home decor shops that sell shells and I also see them a lot in thrift shops! Plus if you take a shell from the ocean they can be smelly especially if they happen to accidentally have an animal left in them 😢 #mermaidvibes #whimsical #fairycore #seashellart #jewlerystand
