A black hole is not a cosmic vacuum cleaner. It is a place where gravity becomes so extreme that space and time themselves collapse. Every object has an escape speed. Earth: ~11 km/s. Sun: ~618 km/s. But inside a black hole the escape speed becomes greater than the speed of light. And because nothing can move faster than light… nothing escapes. The boundary around it is called the event horizon — the point of no return. Cross it, and every possible future leads only inward. If you fell toward a black hole, something strange would happen: to a distant observer, you would appear to slow down and freeze at the edge. But for you, time would continue normally… until tidal gravity stretches you atom by atom — a process called spaghettification. At the very center lies the singularity: • infinite density • zero volume • infinite curvature of spacetime Here our two best theories — General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics — contradict each other. The equations produce infinities, which in physics means: our understanding has reached its limit. Black holes are not just objects in space.
