The celiac or solar plexus is a large network of nerves located in the abdomen.
It primarily connects the central nervous system to several vital organs and areas in the body:
✅Stomach- It provides nerve supply to the stomach, influencing digestive function.
✅Liver and Gallbladder- It connects to the liver and gallbladder, playing a role in bile production and secretion.
✅Pancreas- The celiac plexus affects pancreatic function, including the regulation of enzymes that aid digestion.
✅Spleen- It connects to the spleen, impacting immune responses.
✅Intestines- The plexus innervates the small intestine and parts of the large intestine, affecting digestion and mobility.
The cool part?
It has a reflex point just below the xiphoid process that we can use with hands-on work to affect or bolster its function.
When clients have problems in above areas, it can be felt as tenderness and tension in this area.
Gently stimulating/massaging this area can go a long way in alleviating symptoms relating to these areas.
🧠The VAGUS NERVE also connects to this ganglion, so working on this area can help stimulate the vagus too!
