NACheck out that orbital glow
The International Space Station flies over 75% of the Earth's surface, which means that the crew aboard are treated to some impressive sights. NASA astronauts Josh Cassada and Nicole Mann, for example, captured this view of the Northern Lights from the @ISS shortly before an orbital sunrise.
NASA is partnering with U.S. companies to support the development of the next generation of commercial space stations in low Earth orbit. These stations will allow NASA, and other customers, to expand research opportunities in microgravity, and support crew training and technology testing for future missions to the Moon and Mars.
As the International Space Station approaches the end of its operational life, these commercial space stations will ensure continued U.S. access to low Earth orbit while helping NASA focus resources on deep space exploration. And yes—the views will be incredible.
