Most pitchers talk about spin rate… But spin efficiency is just as important. Spin efficiency tells us how well the ball spins on its axis after it leaves your hand. If the ball is perfectly backspun, you get maximum velocity and carry. If it’s inefficient, the ball will naturally cut and lose velo. Slide-stepping might allow you to move quickly and hold runners, but at what cost? You will reduce force production, likely increase the stress on the arm, and mess with your timing and command all in an effort to hold a runner. Instead of sacrificing all of these things to be 0.2 seconds quicker to the plate, try the “knee-to-knee” move. This will allow you to produce adequate force and take added stress off of the arm, all while keeping a quick tempo in your delivery. #pitchingmechanics #pitchingdrills #pitchingcoach #baseball #mlb

Complementary Pitches: Four-Seam Fastballs and Splitters These two work together in two main ways 1 - A good 4S with ride at the top of the zone will force the hitter to make an early swing decision. This is critical for any off-speed pitch that stays on line for most of its ball flight. 2- A Cutter may stay on line with a 4S for a long time and deviate late, but the deviation isn’t usually in the opposite direction as the 4S. This makes Splitters stand out, because the hitter is trying to flatten their swing path to match the 4S. This leaves them vulnerable to any pitch that moves downward, which is what good splitters do. The Splitter’s ability to look like the 4S out of the hand and also have late movement in the opposite direction of the 4S make it stand out as a premium swing and miss pitch. The biggest downside with the Splitter is how hard it is to control, due to the nature of the grip. Once you figure that out, it has a chance. #baseball #pitching #fyp #mlb #wbc

Most pitchers are taught to: ❌ drop the elbow ❌ get behind the ball ❌ “push” through release That’s NOT how elite arms create spin. Here’s what actually happens at high velocity: When your trunk moves contralaterally with real momentum down the mound… → your arm doesn’t push… it WHIPS → your arm lays back from energy transfer (not forcing it) → then explodes into early internal rotation That’s how you: ✔ get ON TOP of the ball ✔ create downward force vectors ✔ accelerate pronation ✔ increase spin rate naturally No forcing. At one point I was grinding just to hit 90 mph. Within a year I was consistently mid-90s. Here are the 3 things that changed everything for me: 1️⃣ I stopped lifting like a bodybuilder and began training specifically for how I needed to move of the mound. Once I stopped obsessing over how much weight I was moving and started focus on my specific movement, mobility and power needs, my velo skyrocketed! 2️⃣ I took the small detail in my throwing routine and drill work seriously and developed elite movement efficiently on the mound. 3️⃣ I surrounded myself with coaches who held me accountable and provided constant feedback so I stayed on the right path.
