REDo you know who statistically the worst parents in the world are? Research shows it’s not the parents with the least money, education, or those who work the most hours. The worst parents are the ones who are inconsistent, they set rules on Monday and ignore them by Wednesday, threaten consequences they never follow through on, and swing between strict and permissive. Inconsistency in parenting predicts poor child outcomes more than almost any other factor.
Kids don’t need perfect parents, they need predictable ones. Failed parents dismiss their children’s emotions and punish feelings instead of teaching appropriate responses. Studies show children of emotion-dismissing parents have worse emotional regulation and weaker social skills. The
trait nobody expects: failed parents are authoritarian or permissive, never authoritative. Authoritative parents combine high expectations with high responsiveness, setting clear@boundaries and explaining the reasoning. The parents who fail aren’t less loving, they just lack consistency, emotional intelligence, and balance.
