NMWe're bringing you an AIDSWatch 2026 Roundup! We talked to many people who attended AIDSWatch- people living with HIV and allies to the movement- to hear their thoughts about why this AIDSWatch was a crucial one to attend.
First up, meet Von Biggs (@vonbiggsartist), a member of NMAC’s 50+ Strong and Healthy Cohort. Living with HIV and directly impacted by the ups and downs of ADAP, Von is speaking out about what these changes really mean for people in our community.
While funding has been temporarily restored, the message is clear: we need permanent, reliable support for ADAP to protect access to care and save lives.

HIIn 1998, the year Matthew Shepard was murdered, HIV was still widely seen as a death sentence. Treatments existed, but many people were still dying, and the future felt uncertain.
Today, the science looks very different.
With modern antiretroviral treatment, many people living with HIV can suppress the virus to “undetectable” levels, meaning it cannot be passed on to others through sex.
That breakthrough has transformed millions of lives. What once defined a generation of loss is now, for many, a manageable chronic condition with near-normal life expectancy.
The fight isn’t over... but the progress is remarkable.
And it happened because of decades of research, advocacy, and communities that refused to give up hope.

HIThe stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS isn’t what it was decades ago, but it hasn’t disappeared.
For organizations like @apo.ozarks, education is one of the most powerful tools in changing that reality. By providing accurate information, resources, and compassionate care, they help replace fear with understanding.
But just as important is something simpler: connection.
When people take the time to learn about the work APO does, and the people they serve, stigma starts to lose its power. Conversations replace assumptions, and communities become stronger because of it.
Change doesn’t just happen through medicine or policy.
It happens when we get to know one another.

UWAs we kick off this month’s Partner Agency Spotlights, we’re proud to highlight @aids.al.south.
Serving 12 counties across Southwest Alabama, they are the only AIDS Service Organization in the region providing life sustaining care, support, and resources to individuals and families affected by HIV.
Their mission is to ensure everyone has access to high quality healthcare while building stigma free spaces that promote healing, dignity, and respect. They offer free HIV testing, provide food support, educate families, and are working toward opening a pharmacy to expand care even further.
We are proud to partner with AIDS Alabama South and support their growth through resources and micro grants that help strengthen their impact across our community.

BRLast week we wrapped up an incredible Dining Out For Life season, and now our focus shifts to the next big moment for our community, the Florida AIDS Walk 2026.
We had the opportunity to sit down with Derald Robertson, who shared why the Florida AIDS Walk means so much to all of us at Broward House. Every step taken and every dollar raised helps ensure that people in our community living with HIV have access to housing, healthcare, and the support they deserve.
This walk is more than an event for us it is a constant reminder that when our community shows up, real change happens.
