AR1. Confidence will matter just as much as competence
You can be fully qualified and still be questioned. Speak clearly, stand by your decisions, and do not shrink yourself to make others comfortable. The way you carry yourself changes how people respond to you.
2. You do not have to “act like one of the guys” to belong
You can be feminine, quiet, bubbly, serious, stylish, soft spoken — whatever. Your value comes from your skills and work ethic, not from blending in with the dominant culture.
3. You will sometimes be the only woman in the room
This can feel intimidating at first. Instead of seeing it as pressure, see it as presence. You are representation whether you planned to be or not, and that visibility opens doors for others.
4. Boundaries are a career skill
Not every joke is funny. Not every comment deserves your silence. You can be professional, assertive, and respected at the same time. Learning to set calm, firm boundaries early will save you so much stress.
5. It is still 100 percent worth it
Despite the challenges, you get to work on massive, real world projects, earn strong pay, and build serious confidence. You grow thick skin, leadership skills, and resilience that transfer to every area of life.
