JUI’m joking a little bit. However stippling is very labor intense work and it really does take me hundreds of hours to finish a piece. I somehow find that more rewarding, knowing I’ve put a lot of effort into my work. And not to shit on other art styles that are less labor intense, but personally I don’t find those types of art very fascinating. Although nice to look at, they don’t do much for me.
But the same could be argued for photography. A photo can be shot in an instant. I’ve done a lot of street photography and some of my best work has been mere luck. But a street photographer will spend hours and hours roaming the streets for a good opportunity. It requires dedication. Sure, you can spend hours on painting a couple of strokes on canvases, but for me those are different types of dedication. And don’t come for me. I’m not saying there isn’t value in such art. I’m simply expressing my fascination with an artist’s dedication to a single piece of art. Talent is one thing, obsession and dedication is what tickles if you ask me
