Oggi, durante la Plenaria di Strasburgo, sono intervenuto esprimendo la mia forte preoccupazione per la situazione della STMicroelectronics di Catania, che nonostante i 2 miliardi di euro di aiuto di Stato, approvati dalla Commissione Europea, per la costruzione di un nuovo impianto, ha annunciato la cassa integrazione per 2.500 lavoratori su un totale di 5.400. Staremo al fianco di quei lavoratori e chiederemo all’azienda di mantenere le promesse. Non molleremo….

I had the privilege of launching Singapore’s largest industrial district cooling system at STMicroelectronics’ Ang Mo Kio TechnoPark — a milestone collaboration between STMicroelectronics, SP Group, and Daikin that showcases how innovation and partnership can drive sustainability in advanced manufacturing. With a cooling capacity of 36,000 refrigeration tonnes, the system will cut carbon emissions by up to 120,000 tonnes annually — equivalent to removing nearly 110,000 cars from our roads. It will also reduce cooling-related electricity costs by 20% and recycle over half a million cubic metres of water each year. This project demonstrates how district cooling can serve as a model for industrial decarbonisation, helping businesses stay competitive, efficient, and sustainable. It’s also a testament to the power of public-private collaboration in advancing Singapore’s green transition. Congratulations to STMicroelectronics, SP Group, and Daikin on this remarkable achievement!
