The aircraft emerges from a cloud layer that is typically a low to mid-level stratus or stratocumulus cloud, formed when moist air cools and condenses uniformly.
Inside such clouds, temperatures commonly range from about 0°C to −10°C at lower levels, and can be colder at higher altitudes, often containing supercooled water droplets.
As the plane descends below the cloud base, visibility improves quickly, revealing the runway environment and surface details needed for the final approach.
