SOString cheese is a popular snack choice, but take care when introducing it to toddlers.
One of the foods responsible for fatal choking incidents, string cheese is best introduced after 12 mos of age, and even then, pulled into thin strands to be safe. Cutting string cheese into round, bite size pieces increases the risk of choking as these springy pieces are just the right size to block the airway. Although slightly less risky, refrain from letting your child just take bites from the stick, especially if they are not sitting down.
Cubes of cheese are a common cause of choking at all ages, but string cheese is particularly risky because it is pressed and formed into a shape and consistency that yields a bouncy, rubbery quality, making it hard for coughing (or even rescue maneuvers) to dislodge it.
When you are ready to introduce string cheese to your toddler, we suggest teaching your child how to pull it and to not just bite it like a cheese stick. However, if you haven’t been serving string cheese this way, don’t stress. Educating toddlers how to safely manage common choking hazards is important as we guarantee your child will be offered high risk foods when you are not around and before you are ready for your child to have them.

HAcrescent roll mozzarella balls
This is an annual MUST! You can use pizza dough or crescent rolls. I love using mozzarella cheese strings because they are so easy to peel and cut into bite size pieces. This recipes comes together soooo quickly and is such a hit!
Ingredients:
1 package crescent rolls (or two if you’d like to make yours bigger)
4 mozzarella cheese strings
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp fresh parsley
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Sprinkle of salt
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375
2. Roll out crescent dough, close the seams with your fingers, cut each rectangle into 6 squares giving you 24 squares
3. Cut each string cheese into 6, giving you 24 pieces of cheese
4. Place a piece of cheese into each crescent roll square, close the edges and roll into balls
5. On a lined baking sheet place balls into the shape of a Christmas tree
6. Bake for 20 mins
7. Meanwhile melt butter and mix with parsley, garlic powder and salt
8. Remove balls from the oven, transfer to a serving platter & rub with garlic butter
9. Optional to serve with tomato sauce for dunking
