Studying biology shouldn’t be just memorizing blindly and then forgetting it in a few hours, you need to make it fun and actively absorb the information! Here’s how you can do it: 1️⃣Keywords -> It is so important to learn all the new key words and terminology in biology, with accurate definitions. 📋Glossary Make a keyword glossary in a seperate notebook. List every keyword and it’s definition, divide it according to chapters and sections. Or 💻you can make a document/digital notebook to make the list so you can add anything you missed. 2️⃣Mind Maps -> while studying biology, making mind-maps are really useful. It is easy to put a topic like ‘carbohydrates’ in the centre and then jot down all the relevant topics under that heading (polysaccharides, binding and structure, uses etc.) Online resources: •Edrawmax •miro.com •draw.io •whimsical 3️⃣Diagrams -> Using diagrams when studying biology is so so helpful, because a lot of the processes and concepts you study can be explained easily in diagrams. For biochemistry you can draw out displayed formula of reacting biological molecules, you can draw diagrams of the heart and lungs for human biology, or diagrams of the xylem and phloem for plant biology. If you are a visual learner this is especially useful. 4️⃣Color Coding -> Create a key that explains what you’re highlighting, but only colour the minimum you need, as the point of this is to show the most important pieces of information; not make the page look pretty. 💗 Definition 💛 Q/A ❤️ Important 💚 Examples 5️⃣ Learning Style -> Try out different learning styles and use the one that gives you the best results: 👀LEARN BY SEEING • Charts, Graphs • Graphic organizers • Lesson outlines • Picture aids • Power Points 🎧LEARN BY HEARING • Read-alouds • Listening centers • Verbal instructions • Discussions • Repeat to a friend 📖LEARN BY READING & WRITING • Books & texts • Dictionaries • Note Taking 🔬LEARN BY DOING • Incorporate body movement • Tactile- touch, feel Hands-on!
