Episode 21 | The Outfit Fix
(remember to follow @saffydixon)
The original outfit wasn’t bad - it just gave lollipop proportions 🍭
All the volume sat on top, with skinny legs underneath, so the outfit felt top-heavy and visually unbalanced.
Here’s what each swap actually fixed:
• Skinny black jeans → blue straight-leg jeans
Skinny jeans made the bottom half look too small compared to the jumper. Straight-leg denim adds visual weight through the leg, fixing the lollipop effect.
• Bare ears → gold earrings
Jewellery pulls the eye upward and finishes the outfit — it’s the difference between dressed and styled.
• Chunky boots → pointed-toe boots
Chunky boots exaggerate the heaviness through the middle. A pointed toe creates a longer line and lightens the look.
• Slouchy tote → structured tote
The oversized knit already brings softness. A structured bag adds contrast and stops the look from feeling shapeless.
The takeaway:
Oversized on top + skinny on the bottom doesn’t always = balance, It often just equals 🍭
Save this for your next winter outfit & share/repost with the friend who always says they have nothing to wear 🫶🏻
