There is a lot I like about the new edition, but this is one change I can't stand for roleplay reasons. WHAT DO YOU MEAN WARLOCKS JUST HAVE NO IDEA. HOW THE HECK IS A CLERIC GRANTED DIVINE MAGIC IF THEY HAVENT TRULY PLEDGED THEMSELVES. You could roleplay it where they do know, and it just hasn't been finalized, but it all makes the entire process of low level class based rp all the more difficult. While you could find a few genuinely compelling character backstories that work around it, there aren't as many as there used to be. And that's the thing, it limits roleplay in a way that just isn't fun. It makes the early level feel entirely useless for anyone who isn't brand new to Dungeons and Dragons. Which was a problem in 5e, but this makes it worse than it already was. To be fair paladins had this problem in old 5e but were making a skit about that next week so I won't say much more. How do you feel about the delayed subclass for Cleric and Warlock?
