SAI’ve seen so much conversation on the internet lately about the “great millennial career crisis”… and I couldn’t agree with it more.
The jobs we were promised if we got the degree, the stability, the perfect nuclear families… all we had to do was just follow the path, right?
But wait …houses are insanely competitive, the job market so saturated, the online dating scene abysmal. And now so many of us are saying… wait, why does this feel so hard? Why am I burnt out?
I loved my job as a broadcast journalist for so many reasons — but the way I was doing it was unsustainable and completely incongruous to the way I wanted to feel. To the way I wanted my home life to be. And if I’m being honest with myself a year later and looking in the rear view, I needed a change for both my physical and mental health.
So I took a pause. And I’m in the midst of that pause, just trying to figure it out. One “spaghetti at the wall” moment at a time. I write about it over on my Substack… and I hope that my essays and letters bring you words to things you’re feeling too.
