Digital interfaces have replaced so many face-to-face interactions that we almost forget what we are missing. As users, we take action, send orders, and sometimes hurt other people without even knowing whose faces are on the other side of the ‘inter-face’. This habit is extending to analogue interfaces. Apply by March 20. • Please note: the festival pass does not include workshop access ############ Build Your Own Fantasy Code Editor with Char Stiles 12 – 3 PM Calling all creative coders! Ever wished you could tweak your code editor or design your own? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore how code editors work by building one yourself, then experiment with playful and unexpected variations. We’ll start with a writing prompt and a short look at the history of creative coding tools, then build from a simple web-based p5.js editor using JavaScript. ############ Computational Poetry for 100 Years with Lee Tusman 1:30 – 4:30 PM <100 years in the future> A great-great-great-grandchild unearths an ancestor's heirloom computer from the family's forest storage unit—a silver box from the pre-solar era. They manage to power it up. An ancient bell chimes. The display flickers to life, revealing a poem still running after a century. <present day> What would our computational poetry look like if we built it to last 100 years? In this workshop, we'll explore permacomputing principles and create small computational artworks and code poetry using L5, a minimal creative coding library built on Lua. ############ Integrating Real-time Neural Audio Synthesis in Sets and Productions with the Magenta Team (Google DeepMind) 10 AM – 1 PM Dive into real-time neural audio generation using Magenta RT (open-weights) and the Lyria RT API, exploring how to play with low-latency models as live, steerable instruments. We’ll look at how to give models a distinct sonic character through finetuning, and how to build custom interfaces that integrate into live sets and production workflows

Celeste Betancur is a researcher at S — 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐮𝐫 Creative Code Intensive Instructor ~ Sound and Audiovisual Performance Celeste Betancur is a researcher at Stanford University’s Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA), where her work explores the intersections of music, technology, and algorithmic composition. She is also a composer, digital artist, and live coder whose practice moves between academic concert halls and underground electronic music scenes, with a focus on real time score generation, live coding performance, and interactive audiovisual systems. We’re so lucky to have her teaching the CCI this spring ❤️ In this video, Celeste introduces her approach to building instruments for expression, from sound design and Web Audio to audiovisual performance with Hydra, plus techniques for synthesis, sampling, and communication interfaces for performance and improvisation. Creative Code Intensive starts in a couple weeks, and you still have time to apply: Submit your application by tomorrow, February 22 at 11:59 PM. 💫 CCI culminates in a public showcase, presenting work to the creative community, museum professionals, and technology industry leaders.
