But here’s the truth most beginners miss: It’s not just the roller. It’s the base placement and tension. Most roller sets fail because tension and base placement are ignored. Roller size matters. But base control determines lift. In my classroom, we master the foundation before chasing the finish. Roller diameter determines curl diameter. Smaller barrel = tighter circumference. Larger barrel = wider wave pattern. Tomorrow I’ll show you my student applying one with correct tension and base control. The truth… Split ends don’t go anywhere no matter how many treatments you do or products you apply , once it’s split it will only continue to do so , we know this, but how do you explain it to your client who wants nothing more than long healthy hair? Here’s an example I give : A split end is like a frayed thread in a sweater. No matter how many lint rollers or fabric sprays you use, the thread keeps unraveling until you cut it We , as stylists know, that hair is dead once it leaves the scalp, so it can’t regenerate or heal itself. Treatments can coat and strengthen what’s there, but they can’t fuse split ends back together. Sometimes all it takes in an explanation to put your clients at ease, take the time, build the trust, & create lasting client confidence 🩷 #cosmetologystudent✂️ #beautyschool #newhairdresser #haircut #trim

I once had a client with a heavy weight line after installing extensions on her. So, I did what I thought would work and texturized her natural hair to lay into the extensions. The problem is when she decided to remove her extensions, her natural hair was a little choppy. Very layered. Not the vibe. Que in education 👏🏻 After learning this tip, it’s changed the way I blend extensions. I prefer my hikaris over a straight razor, just my preference. Taking very subtle micro cuts along the extensions to create a layered effect and blend out your weight line and preserving your clients natural hair #robertcharleshair #hairextensioneducation #haireducation

The good news is once you get the hang of the motion- you never forget. Slide cutting is the same. Take these components into consideration before you pick up your scissors: - are my angles consistent on each side? - how wide am I opening the shears at cut point? - are my shears sharp enough to glide or am I ripping the hair? - do I have proper thumb isolation or am I crunching the hair? All of these matter and will affect your results.
