DIIt be like that sometimes ...
While I wanted some @silverringsplint for the hypermobility problems that are causing havoc in my hands, two OTs measured me and scarily had two very different measurements. I just didn't feel comfortable ordering something so expensive out of pocket to have it not be correct and have to add a whole other frustrating situation to my life.
I looked into other options, so many of which would cost the same as silver ring splints or are wire wrapped.
Fun fact about me, before my hands got really bad I spent so much time wire wrapping rings, necklaces, and sun catchers. It's a hobby I miss a lot.
I have all the tools so I decided to give it a whirl and this thankfully took me less than 20 minutes to figure out.
I guess I'll be ordering some stronger materials than this copper and whipping up my own finger splints. Here's hoping they help. If so, down the road I will find someone confident with the silver ring splint measuring system and upgrade.

Holis! En el última reel estuvieron pidiendo tutorial de cómo armar los hilitos para los charms, así que le hice (o intente) hacerles un mini tutorial ꒰⑅ᵕ༚ᵕ꒱˖♡
La verdad es que medio una fiaca pero en general a mí me gustan mucho los trabajos más mecánicos y que conllevan repeticiones o práctica, pero es hermoso tener la libertad de hacerlos del largo que queremos y de múltiples colorcitos.
Si tienen alguna duda la pueden dejar en comentarios o mandarme un mensajito (◕ᴗ◕✿)
También un poco me copo la idea de hacer una mini serie de tutoriales de cosas, pero no sé que cosas JAJA, así que acepto sugerencias ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
Pd: estuve toda la edición del vídeo pensando en lo poco aesthetic que son mis deditos *llora * pero mis manos son de artesana(? por eso están tan maltrechas ಥ‿ಥ han pasado por ácidos, múltiples productos químicos de grabado, cortaduras, quemaduras de joyería y se terminaron de recibir en cerámica

THHey! I’m really excited to update you all about the next stage of my journey with @mmot_practice Miriam May OT Practice as I recently went to pick up my glorious custom made We Design silver finger splints!
Firstly, they were made and delivered waaaay faster than I expected. If I remember correctly it was within a couple of weeks that I was notified of their arrival. I booked back in with the lovely hand therapist Nicola Goldsmith so we could see how the splints were fitting, if they’d need any adjustment’s (as usually this is the case). Luckily they fit me perfect so no tweaks were done!
To put the splints to the test and for me to get used to the sensation and changes in grip - we explored activities that I usually struggle with or need assistance with. As an artist who over time has lost the ability to make “art” the way I used to, practising writing gave me a lot of hope. I’m very excited to start re exploring painting and drawing as so far I’ve noticed a significant improvement in hand pain and stamina / general dexterity when using the splints.
Also on a side note I’ve had several compliments on my “rings” when out and about - in my eyes it’s always a bonus when a medical aid is beautiful as well as functional and this is very rare with prescribed splints.
As a very heavy handed individual who gets upset at the slightest scratch on metal - I was very happy that a polishing cloth came with the splints so I can rub some of the lighter scratches out as they come - although luckily they’re still looking gorgeous and shiny. I didn’t expect as much durability, especially when I’m pushing my wheelchair all day long.
I’m here to answer all your questions as per, so fire away (and any I can’t answer I’ll direct to the lovely hand OT Nicola!). As mentioned last time this is a collab but it is one I couldn’t be happier about being involved in as everything from the great team, the practice and the splints themselves has been faultless!
