What is your political ideology? Mine is Communism. It is the radical, unwavering belief that the wealth of the world belongs to those who create it. It is the conviction that no one should go hungry while grain rots in silos, and no one should be homeless while buildings sit empty for investment. To be a Communist is to recognize that our current system is built on the backs of the many for the benefit of the few. It is the pursuit of a society where “the free development of each is the condition for the free development of all.” We aren’t just dreaming of a better world; we are organizing for one. From the factories to the fields, from the screens to the streets—solidarity is our strength. From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs. 🚩⚒️✊ #PoliticalIdeology #Communism #Marxism #Leftist #socialjustice

What is the definition of fascism? How do rich people use fascism to gain the support of masses of working class people? It turns out, we've been fighting fascism for one-hundred years now, and it's still the same essentially. "Fascism is the open terrorist dictatorship of the most reactionary, most chauvinistic, and most imperialist elements of finance capital." This definition of fascism was presented by Georgi Dimitrov at the Seventh World Congress of the Comintern in 1935. This definition remains the definitive Marxist framework of fascism because it shows the root of fascism grows from capitalism in crisis and class collaboration, not just racist ideology and strongman politics. Contemporary debates about whether modern far-right movements qualify as fascist still return to Dimitrov's criteria of whether finance capital maintains open, terrorist dictatorship. This book is called "Against Fascism and War" by Georgi Dimitrov. #DidYouKnow #Education #History

This doesn’t mean I think these debates are unimportant. The question is when and where they should happen. The international communist and socialist movement today is not living in the Cold War period anymore when there was a massive bloc of parties and organizations, each defending its own interpretation of Marxism and disputing political lines with each other. But after the defeat of that bloc in the 1990s, Marxists and socialists were largely pushed into universities and academic spaces. A lot of theory was produced in that period, some of it very interesting, some of it less so. But the movement itself became weaker and more fragmented and never produce a general again. Today the situation is different. Since the crisis of capital in 2008, the debts from the wars that followed, and the pandemic in 2020 that accelerated many of these contradictions, we are seeing a new moment. The decline of the United States as the central imperial bloc and the rise of China are changing the global balance. In this context Marxism is again receiving attention, and social movements are starting to grow. And this is exactly why I think these internal disputes, arguing publicly about whether figure A, B, or C had the correct interpretation of Marxism , become counterproductive when they happen in mass spaces like the internet. For people who are not already inside the movement, these debates are confusing. Most people who are just approaching Marxism do not see huge differences between different communist tendencies. When they encounter constant public disputes, it often makes the movement look sectarian and dogmatic. It creates the impression that Marxism is a collection of closed niches, each one obsessed with defending what some historical figure said about a specific question. And suddenly it looks like in order to understand Marxism you must first choose a faction and condemn others. That is not how Marxism should appear, especially because Marxism itself is not dogmatic. It can be orthodox in its method, but it is not meant to be a rigid doctrine frozen around the interpretations of particular leaders. Continue in the comments \/

TOMORROW, Saturday, January 31st in UW’s Multipurpose room (SLC 1120), join KW’s section of the RCP to hear essential topics on the task of building a marxist party. There will be two talks, one on “Bolshevism VS Stalinism” and another one on “The Permanent Revolution” with a discussion period to contribute or ask questions. In this video, we discuss only a fraction of the topic on The Permanent Revolution, so be sure to attend our event to get a complete understanding of this essential distinction. #uwaterloo #marxism #communistrevolution #communism #rcp

“These were democratising movements that were trying to find the third way.” On Downstream in September, @lea.ypi explained why common beliefs about the fall of communism are dangerously misleading. The Permanent Revolution is not just a "good idea" - it explains exactly how the struggle for democracy and agrarian reforms is interlinked with the struggle for socialism. A proper understanding of this theory is vital for revolutionaries today. In this presentation from the 2026 Montreal Marxist Winter School, Joel Bergman explains the theory of permanent revolution, and how it can be applied today. The full presentation is now available on Youtube, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts! (link in bio)

As a Marxist, one of my largest critiques of postmodernism is the inherent pessimism and anti revolutiony fervor baked into it. It’s the ultimate form of idealism which will always shield us from the MATERIAL REALITY of our untied class struggle. Intersectionality is a NEEDED development in Marxist theory but to center fragmentation will always ignore the overarching capitalist system we’re ALL victims to. WE CAN AND HAVE CHANGED OUR WORLD, any one that says otherwise should be questioned! Together we stand, divided we fall. #leftist #postmodernism #marxism #socialism #philosophy
