CCThe Personal Insight Questions (PIQs) on the UC application are a great way for UC admission officers to get to know YOU behind the numbers and grades on your transcript.
📝Below are 4 writing tips to make sure you stand out in your application!
1. Choose prompts that best relate to you. Ask yourself, why am I sharing this story to the admissions officer? What does this showcase about myself?
2. Tell us YOUR OWN experiences. Write in I, not we or us. For example, if you were in a club, what did YOU contribute to? How did YOU make an impact? What did YOU do? Even if it was a collective effort, make sure to highlight your contributions.
3. Make sure to give context. Context is important, but should not take up half of the word count. At most 2-3 concise sentences. Every word counts, so make sure you don’t use unnecessary filler words.
4. Answer ALL parts of the prompt and make sure that your ideas connect/flow together. This is key because when admissions officers read your essay, they will not take extra time to analyze anything you say. It is best to be clear and concise in your essay.
