PJI knew @tyy2.0 was ready to break the 50 inch mark when he was 1 leg pressing 900 psi 🤯. His strength to Bodyweight ratio is insane.
Before Ty did any consistent Weightroom work he was already hitting 49 inches on his approach jump and 40+ on his standing vert 👀.
Sometimes athletes don’t jump high BECAUSE they’re strong in the Weightroom. They’re strong in the Weightroom because they jump high.
The same fast twitch fibers and powerful nervous system that Ty naturally developed through lots of jumping (paired with elite genetics), also allows him to be really strong in the Weightroom despite not having that much experience with heavy lifting.
This correlation between strength and vertical isn’t always present though. Some great jumpers rely on stiffness/elasticity and elite coordination as their superpowers, which doesn’t show up in the Weightroom. I’ve had a lot of these type of athletes hitting 45+ inch approach verts who are awful force producers with heavy loads/slow speeds.
Go build.
