HA#Singapore: They tried to get me again on “criminal trespass” and this is fascism in action. The @singaporepoliceforce tried to “mediate” and basically took @orchidcountryclub’s side like in all previous cases, and they have given me til 3:30 PM to vacate.
This is how the @orchidcountryclub’s hotel manager Gopal Thangavelu handles a petite Singaporean woman and valuable client. The hubris in a kleptocracy is stunning. I can easily be his sister. This state script is predictable.
I have updated Gopal about all my previous and racist evictions, and do not for one moment believe their smearing that I refuse to co-operate. I met him and his colleague for an amicable lunch on 5 January and went through my account. They told me about incidentals that I usually clear every week, and then I cleared the incidentals after our lunch meeting. Their finance is in disarray, they came back after the holidays and suddenly claim I have room charges when everything has been honored by me and my personal integrity is a hallmark of my stellar journalism over the years.
Call @orchidcountryclub and shame the managers. When the top is a bunch of yes men to @ntucsingapore, this is the outcome. And they are supposed to represent Singaporean workers, mind you. Utterly shameful and more importantly, the hotel association and the real estate industry are all in cahoots to profit from our pain whereas the oligarchs at the top take home fat cat pay with benefits. I do not feel safe and my life is on the line.
