MI🌿 Incredible & underrated Missouri!
If you are looking for hidden gem views and scenic hikes minus the crowds, add these parks to your Missouri bucket list and Midwest travel plans.
🌿 Big Oak Tree State Park 📍East Prairie, MO
This off the beaten path park features a long and unique boardwalk through a lush forest. Just try to avoid a summer visit if you can and bring bug spray as the mosquitos are ruthless!
🌿 Grand Gulf State Park 📍Thayer, MO
This park preserves a collapsed cave system that is known as the "Grand Canyon of Missouri". Enjoy views of the canyon from above or duck under the staircase rails to explore the unofficial trails at the bottom with caution.
🌿 Washington State Park 📍De Soto, MO
This park is incredible in all seasons. See frozen waterfalls in winter, stunning wildflowers in spring, river recreation in summer, and colorful leaves in the fall. Don't miss the exhibit of petroglyphs too!
🌿 Big Sugar Creek State Park 📍Pineville, MO
Another hidden gem park with a lovely clear stream and seasonal wildflowers. This one can get a little overgrown so be sure to use tick repellent.
🌿 Graham Cave State Park 📍Danville, MO
This quick stop off I-70 leads to a large cave opening, a seasonal waterfall, and several trails to explore.
