Visualisation is one of the most powerful mental training tools in the world. And if you’re not using it, you’re at a disadvantage (especially athletes/high performers/leaders) There are 5 types: 1. Outcome 2. Process 3. Negative 4. Creative 5. Explorative And it works because the brain activates nearly identical neural activity when you imagine something vs when you’re actually doing it. So basically it struggles to tell the difference. Most people visualise worst case scenarios. Therefore you become more anxious, fearful and perform worse. Here Olympic skiers, DJokovic, Michael phelps, the Blue Angels and Carlos Sainz all use it to rewire their brain to think, feel and perform the best they have. It’s a super power once you know how to properly use it and integrate it into your training. Mindset gives you the edge. P.s that’s why I wrote the book ‘VISUALISE’ I have spent the last 10 years researching and practicing everything about this particular skill. Comment ‘BOOK’ for the link. And I’m curious! Do you use visualisation? For what? Let me know in the comments

Move your finger slowly from left to right across the pattern while watching your finger with your eyes, taking about two seconds to travel across the whole width. When you reach the right speed you should start to perceive the stripes smoothly drifting to the right even though they are not actually moving. Then move your finger back the other way and follow it again with your eyes and the stripes should appear to drift smoothly to the left. After a little practice you can even switch the apparent direction of motion on your own without needing your finger as a guide. This visual phenomenon is known as Sigma Motion. It was named by the neuroscientist O. J. Grüsser, but the effect was first described by James Pomerantz. What’s fascinating is that the motion you see is not actually happening. Your brain creates the illusion because of the interaction between image reversal and eye movements. Here’s what’s happening psychologically: When your eyes move, the brain sends a motor command to the eye muscles. At the same time, it sends a copy of that command — called an Efference Copy — to the visual system. This internal signal helps the brain distinguish between: • Movement happening in the world • Movement caused by your own eyes In illusions like this, the signals don’t perfectly align, so the brain interprets the visual change as external motion. So even though the image is static, your brain constructs movement from the mismatch. It’s a powerful reminder of something important in psychology and neuroscience: We don’t see reality exactly as it is. We see the brain’s interpretation of it. Sometimes your brain invents motion where none exists. 💬 Comment “VISION” if the illusion fooled you. 🔔 Follow @healngrow.psych for more psychology and perception insights. Most people react to life. High performers design it. Here’s the Perfect Day Visualization Protocol: 1️⃣ Remove Constraints For 10–30 minutes, imagine your ideal day with zero limitations — environment, work, health, relationships. This isn’t fantasy. It’s target setting. 2️⃣ Sensory Detail Activation The more detailed the visualization, the stronger the neural encoding. Your brain prioritizes what it repeatedly imagines. 3️⃣ Attention Recalibration Once the target is defined, your perception shifts. You begin filtering decisions through alignment: Does this move me toward that day — or away from it? Clarity changes behavior. Behavior changes trajectory. If your sleep, training, and health habits aren’t aligned with a clearly defined outcome — you’re operating without architecture. Performance-first systems start internally. Define the target. Then optimize the biology. Speaker: @hubermanlab Follow for science-backed performance systems.

Do you intentionally visualize the future you want? . Your brain can rehearse a future before it happens. Neuroscience shows that when you vividly imagine an experience with focused attention, the brain often activates many of the same neural circuits that fire during the real event. This happens because the brain operates through pattern activation. When you mentally rehearse something — a skill, a conversation, or even a state of mind — neurons begin firing in patterns similar to actual behavior. And in neuroscience there is a simple principle: Neurons that fire together tend to wire together. Repeated activation strengthens those pathways. This is why athletes use mental rehearsal. By visualizing movements, they prime the motor cortex, making physical performance smoother when the real moment arrives. The same principle applies to emotional states. If the brain repeatedly practices fear, the circuits for fear become efficient. If it repeatedly practices calm or gratitude, those circuits strengthen instead. Emotions are not abstract ideas. They are biochemical states produced by neural activity and body chemistry. When you intentionally generate a feeling — such as gratitude — the brain releases corresponding neurotransmitters and hormones. Repeat that state often enough, and the body begins to recognize it more easily. Eventually the brain no longer struggles to find the pathway. The circuit is already there. In simple terms: What you repeatedly practice in the mind, the brain gradually learns to execute in life. Not mystical. Just neural plasticity. Your brain is constantly rewiring itself based on what you repeatedly think, feel, and experience. Which means the patterns you rehearse today can quietly shape how you respond tomorrow. ⸻ 🎥 Visuals: Higgsfield.ai 🎙 Voice: ElevenLabs 🌿 More reflections on inner transformation and conscious growth at SoulUnity.art . Your exploration of how the mind shapes experience is important. Understanding neural plasticity turns awareness into a practical tool for change.

Optical illusions that appear to move, known as illusory motion, trick the brain by exploiting how it processes high-contrast, repetitive patterns. These illusions demonstrate that the brain does not simply record visual data but rather interprets it, often guessing when it receives insufficient, complex, or conflicting input.
