POAll of my babies weened at different ages. I always wanted to go for as long as I could but sometimes babies want to stop. And sometimes mama wants to stop. Either is ok. My littlest is getting so active that he often doesn’t want to stop playing to nurse. And that shift happened pretty quickly. Now I’m chasing him down to nurse instead of him crying for me to nurse him.
Did you know that the average worldwide age for weening is 4 years old? We ween very young here in America. But there’s so many benefits to nursing, that I encourage mamas to nurse for as long as they can, so long as it is good for their mental health.
What age did your babies ween? Did you set nursing goals? I literally bought myself a present for reaching one year of nursing with my first baby because we had such a rough start and I was heavily pressured to use formula by people around me. The thing that helped us the most was working with a lactation consultant to make sure we were getting the milk into the baby 🤍 I encourage all new mamas to work with one even if you don’t think you need it. There’s so much to learn!

🤔If we think about it, babies have NEVER had anything other than milk - starting solids is monumental & it takes a lot of time to build up the skills needed to eat.
🦆Some babies take to it like a duck to water, others are a little slower & less keen
👌🏼Both scenarios are totally normal, so above I’ve given a bit of an overview about Ada’s first week of weaning & how it went!
