Why does coning happen?
Coning = pressure pushing forward through the linea alba (midline of your abs).
It usually happens when:
• You hold your breath
• You bear down
• You brace hard without engaging deep core properly
• The movement is too advanced for your current core strength
The fix is mostly about breath + deep core coordination, not just “tightening your abs harder.”
If you want to fix it you want to learn 360° breathing with controlled exhale + deep core engagement.
This is extremely beneficial whether you’re pregnant, postpartum or neither.
360 breathing is the BASIS of deep core work and engagement and if you don’t know how to do this it will be hard to rehab your core postpartum.
